Trip to Cairns, tablelands, Great Barrier Reef and rainforest. Far North Queensland (abbreviated FNQ) is the northernmost region of the Australian state of Queensland. The region largely corresponds to the Tropical North Queensland area, which stretches from north of Cairns to Torres Strait. The Gulf Country region lies to the west, and North Queensland to the south.
